MAAG Moderates Art and Sustainability Panel 2011

We’re thrilled! We’re inspired! I’ll be moderating what should be quite an event, “Creativity and Development: Arts as a Driver of Economic Revitalization.” Panelists will address how creative projects contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform sites into beautiful, green, and sustainable places with the arts at their core. As you know, arts engagement strategies with multiple civic partners can spark innovative methodologies for the recovery and sustainability of our communities during these challenging economic times.

Our panelists come with stories to tell:

  • Gary Steuer, Chief Cultural Officer, City of Philadelphia.
  • Mel Chin, “Operation Paydirt” and “The Fundred Dollar Bill Project.”
  • Amy Franceschini, Future Farmers. Amy is working on a major temporary public art installation for the conference called Soil Kitchen. This will be a windmill-powered architectural intervention and multi-use space where citizens can enjoy free soup in exchange for soil samples from their neighborhoods (open from April 1-6 at 2nd and Girard).

Don’t miss this panel, April 5, 1:45pm, Rm 119A in the new wing of the Convention Center. Free admission, all you need to do is register when you get there. It’s that easy. See you there!
