Poetry Slam and Open Mic, first Saturday each month @ 7 p.m.
And now a word from Mary Ann Domanska…
Do you appreciate the power of words? Are you a spoken word artist? Would you like to read your original work out loud to an audience? Slams are noisy and interactive! The audience can hoot and holler when they like your work. The poets are there to entertain, to invite the audience in, and to have a good time!
Our first ever MAAG Poetry Slam and Open Mic will be held on Saturday, April 5 starting at 7 PM, and will continue on the first Saturday of every month, same time, same place. Each month, we’ll be inviting special guest poets to start the evening off! This Saturday we’ll welcome Dr. Leif Gustavson, Interim Dean and Associate Professor at the School of Education, Arcadia University. He teaches literacy education, designing learning environments, and ethnography for educational practitioners. And, yes, he’s a poet and author as well! Find out more about Leif right HERE.
There will be prizes, food, atmosphere, and an enthusiastic group of fellow writers. If you’d like to participate in the slam event from 7-9 PM, please email to get your name on the list to firstname.lastname@example.org. (There may be additional openings on the day of the event.) Following the slam event, we’ll have an Open Mic for all until 10 PM. Suggested donation is $5 and you’re welcome to bring food and beverages to share. If you are a published poet, we invite you to bring your work to sell!

See you this Saturday!
