Poetry Slam Sat., May 3, 7 pm
Over 60 people at our first slam last month? No way! Right? And what a night it was! Poets ranging in age from their 20s to their 80s speaking to life. Published poets, first time poets, each touching us in their own unique way. April Lynn James won the slam with sonnets and gaiety. Plus the poetry lovers came with picnic baskets filled with food and wine.
We loved our guest poets so we’re doing it again. This time, we’re starting the evening off with Iain Haley Pollock. His first collection of poems, Spit Back a Boy, won the 2010 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. He is a Cave Canem Fellow. Want to find out more? Read on.
So, here’s what you need to know. Everyone is welcome to perform. Download the rules right here. Poetry lover? Come on down.
Saturday, May 3, Slam starts at 7 pm. Open mic at 9 pm.
