Getting to know Karoline Wallace, your host! Since discovering quilt making 16 years ago, I have experienced a very powerful creative outlet in fiber, specifically in quilt making. Originally from Brooklyn, New York I have been greatly influenced by living in Paris and in West Africa. European and African aesthetics are a part of my experience and I try to incorporate that into my work. While I do not have a formal art education, at the University of Pennsylvania I have received a BA in Art History and a Masters in Folklore and Foodways. I am a humanities person at heart, but I also hold a Masters in Computing and Information Technology from Penn’s School of Engineering. I make original quilts and I am proud to be the webmaster and active member of the Heartstring Quilters Guild in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and a member of the American Quilters’ Society and the International Quilt Association. My work has been published in Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, and shown in the International Quilt Festival in Houston and the Mt. Airy Art Garage in Philadelphia.
