Board of Governors’ Profiles

Linda Slodki, President and Cofounder of Mt. Airy Art Garage

Linda Slodki is an independent marketing communications professional and trainer. After 16 years in corporate healthcare, she has refocused her energies to build partnerships with communities, artists, and neighbors, all for the purpose of gaining cooperation, support, and initiating action. She brings a unique set of skills to the Mt. Airy Art Garage Board that include expertise in print and electronic communications, public relations, and fundraising.

Linda is also a community activist. She is Founder and past President of the 400 Glen Echo/Ellet St. Block Association, now in its fourth year. As head of the block association, Linda organized and empowered neighbors by providing a platform to voice opinions, share experience, and look to each other for solutions. She linked families of all ages, cultures, and experience. West Mt. Airy Neighbors recognized her as one of “50 Good Neighbors” in September 2010.

Linda is both Secretary and Board member of the Mt. Airy Community Services Corporation. Linda has a M.Ed. from Temple University in Organizational Development and Training and a Liberal Arts Degree from Barnard College. She speaks four languages—French, English, German, and Spanish. 

Arleen Olshan, Cofounder and Treasurer of Mt. Airy Art Garage

Arleen Olshan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts). She apprenticed in custom leather craft, over 40 years ago, while studying at the Art Students League in New York and has studied photography at Community College of Philadelphia. Arleen was also the co-owner of Giovanni’s Room Bookstore (1976-1986). For over twenty years she has worked in education and counseling women in recovery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and is a Certified Addictions Counselor.

Arleen has taught craft and fine art to children, youth, and adults at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Mural Arts Program. She was the Arts Program Director at the YWCA of Germantown. Other volunteer and community activities include: Ellet Street/Glen Echo Neighbors Association (Mt. Airy); International Women’s Day Celebration, Cofounder (2008 & 2009); maintaining a literacy program for recovering women at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (2007-present); Philadelphia Focuses on Women in the Visual Arts, Treasurer; and the Germantown Women’s Education Program, Treasurer. 

Donna Globus, Secretary

Donna Globus earned a BS degree from Duke University, and a Master of Architecture degree from North Carolina State University College of Design. After 20 years of professional practice as a registered architect and construction professional, she went back to graduate school and, in May 2010, received her MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from the University of the Arts. 

Donna is highly organized and has extensive experience in writing, editing, and proofreading skills that are particularly useful as Secretary for Mt. Airy Art Garage. Her expertise in design and construction guides MAAG’s decision-making regarding the build-out. Donna also volunteers her time as a Board member of Philadelphia Center for the Book.

Kathleen V. Hogan, Esq., Advisory Board member

Kathleen V. Hogan, Esq. is an attorney in private practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  While serving as Deputy Mayor of Haddon Township, NJ (2003-2007), she established the Arts Alive! Artists’ Forum, producing several art shows years for local artists, and hosting monthly artist networking meetings at the Back Room Potters Cooperative. In addition to her support of the arts, Kathy Hogan is legal counsel for the Domestic Violence Advocacy Center of Burlington County, and she is a past Board member of the Starting Point mental health and wellness center, serving the Delaware Valley. She also served as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Camden County Animal Shelter.

Meei Ling Ng, Art Director

Meei Ling Ng is an independent Art Director and Graphic/Web Designer. Additionally, Meei Ling has over 12 years of experience as a Graphic and Web Designer. Her award-winning designs and art work are displayed locally, internationally, and online.

Meei Ling Ng is also a creative artist and community activist, having been in the art and creative fields for many years. Her participation in numerous charity fundraising drives has made her recognize the potential of her artwork to not only raise money for good causes but also to raise public awareness on social issues such as “evolved rescue” for abandoned animals and helping homeless families transition to permanent homes.

Meei Ling Ng graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in Specialized Technology and Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, Singapore, in Applied Arts. She speaks five languages—English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Teochew, and Hokkien.

Marc Dubus, Director of IT and Technology

Marc Dubus has over 12 years of web development experience covering financial, fine-arts, pharmaceutical, telecommunication, and transportation industries. Marc has worked for large corporations and has developed websites for smaller companies as well. Marc applies his experience well to any situation because of his understanding of fundamentals.

Marc graduated from Arcadia University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and holds a Bachelor of Fine-Arts from l’École D’Arts Décoratifs in Nice, France. He is passionate about his volunteering as the director of IT and Technology with Mt. Airy Art Garage.
