Drawing From Live Models

Drawing From Live Models, 4th Thursday of every month @ 6:30 pm

 $12 for members/$15 for nonmembers.

2013-08-22 19.59.25 Life drawing at the Mt. Airy Art Garage presents a fabulous and unique opportunity for artists of all ages. Drawing from the life model is an essential tool for aspiring and professional artists. It’s the building block for all artists: understanding the human form, how it moves, its energy, magnificence, plus linear and spatial qualities. Put the figure in the room and everything changes. Here’s a chance to capture the figure’s amazing form and presence.

Stop the isolation. Never reach a professional plateau. Keep yourself challenged. There’s something about coming into a public space, leaving the privacy of your studio and going public that changes your work, allowing for experimentation and sharing with others who care about what you care about.2013-09-12 19.00.52

Our classes cost $12 for members/$15 for nonmembers. Under 18? Bring a letter of consent from your parent or guardian.

There are no rules to drawing — no right or wrong way — only your way. The purpose of this workshop is for you to become familiar with the traditions of good drawing. drawing by Robert FinchWe believe that anyone can draw, with one major proviso — you have to really want to. Your Host—Karoline Wallace, Fine Art Quilter

KarolinewebSince discovering quilt making 16 years ago, I have experienced a very powerful creative outlet in fiber, specifically in quilt making.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York I have been greatly influenced by living in Paris and in West Africa. European and African aesthetics are a part of my experience and I try to incorporate that into my work.

I received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Art History and a Masters in Folklore and Foodways. I am a humanities person at heart, but I also hold a Masters in Computing and Information Technology from Penn’s School of Engineering.

I make original quilts and I am proud to be the webmaster and active member of the Heartstring Quilters Guild in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and a member of the American Quilters’ Society and the International Quilt Association.

My work has been published in Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, and shown in the International Quilt Festival in Houston and the Mt. Airy Art Garage in Philadelphia.
