MAAG 2021 Virtual Membership Meeting
Please join us for our first Virtual Membership Meeting on Friday, April 30th at 7 PM! It’s been a long time since we’ve connected as a community. This has been an unprecedented year of trying to remain safe and not gathering outside of our homes, except perhaps with immediate family.
MAAG was closed to the public for months, but we weren’t idle. We have continued our move into our new home at 7054 Germantown Avenue and have been able to reopen the handcraft Gift Shop and the Gallery — both of which have been more successful than ever. The quality of the work that has been shown has been outstanding and the response from the community in the form of sales has been incredibly positive.
Our membership has grown — a trend we hope to continue!
In March of 2020, we were forced to shut down the art classes for the children at Emlen Elementary when the building was closed. Our Artist Teachers continued to work on our annual Mural & Literacy Project, compiling the art the children created before the shut down. Starting this June, we will invite the families of our young artists, as well as interested community artists, to “paint days” at MAAG to complete the art and design for the mural. The finished mural will be mounted at the school in the Fall.
We are planning another outdoor Artist Garage Sale and new exhibits in the Gallery — both group shows and solo exhibitions. We are working on setting up more clubs, classes and meetings. Finally, if City and State regulations permit, we’re happy to tell you that “MAAG Rocks Art!” will be back this year!
The potential for an exciting year ahead in our new space, after vaccinations have become more accessible to the general population, feels more possible this year. Please join us at the Virtual Membership Meeting to share your ideas and dreams for the new MAAG.
A link for the meeting will be posted in the coming weeks.
Let’s work together to actualize all that we envision, and more!
Sincerely,
The Board of the Mt. Airy Art Garage
