Found Object and Story Submissions for a Northwest Philly “Time Capsule”

The Mt. Airy Art Garage, in partnership with Juniper Productions, a local producer of theatrical experiences, is seeking submissions of everyday objects and artifacts along with the stories that give the objects meaning to you.

The playwrights of a new audio drama podcast, Tempes: 2122, will be drawing their inspiration from the items and stories you contribute. Tempes: 2122 will follow an historian and cultural anthropologist from the future who discovers a time capsule that had been created in Northwest Philly 101 years previously – way back in 2021 (i.e. we are building the time capsule right now!)

Here’s how to submit:

  • Find your item. What item has held significance for you during the pandemic? Examples can include clothes, toys, new-found recipes, photographs, cards, “I voted” stickers, signs. etc.
  • Write a note or story to tell us why this object or artifact has been meaningful to you during life in the pandemic. Be straightforward, if you like. Be funny and wry, if you like. Be furious, if you like. We suggest no more than 350 words.
  • Juniper’s creative team is excited to see your objects and stories/notes attached to them. Please be sure to include your name and email address on your note or story so that we can be in touch. For smaller items, put everything together in a Ziploc bag or envelope.
  • Drop your item and note/story off at Mt. Airy Art Garage, 7054 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19119 between the hours of 12-6, Wednesday – Saturday 0r 12-5 on Sunday by May 31st

Alternatively, you may email a jpg photo of the item with your note or story to Associate Producer Anastassia Vertjanova at

Details From Our Partners at Juniper Productions:

Here’s the low down…three brave guest performers are given a monologue or short speech from a well known play or musical a couple of days before the show. They put together their own home-made props and costumes in preparation for their performance.

Your job as the audience is to infuse mirth into the show (and applaud the performances). Guided by the MC, you’ll suggest new word substitutions in the monologues. Each guest is given a few minutes to rehearse privately, and then off we go… be prepared for much fun and creativity as the new monologues are performed.

Voting takes place after the event – you get to name your pick in three categories:

***Best props and costumes*** ***Best characterization*** *** Best general performance***

The best general performers advance to the Grand Finale on June 24th.

Registration is $5 (no additional fees) for the ticket, and we have a 2-for-1 ticket special for you to share with friends and family. We will email each person a link to this livestream event prior to the show.

Let’s play!
