The Art of Collage

Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG) and the Collage Collective invite all artists to submit their art for the exhibition, Transformed Imagery, which will run for ten days: September 6-15, 2024, in the Gallery @ MAAG, 7054 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19119.

An ancient art form, collage offers huge possibilities for creative expression. Artists today have access to a boundless supply of visual elements (paper, photographs, fabric, metal, plastic, wood, etc.) that they take apart and recompose into totally new works of art — imagery that’s been transformed.

Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) pieces of artwork to be on display and for sale. Two-dimensional artwork should be framed with wire hangers.

First artwork submitted: $20
2nd & 3rd artwork submitted: $10/piece

Submission Guidelines

MAAG welcomes all artists, from emerging to professional. We also strive for excellence and professionalism in presenting artwork; therefore, all work must be professionally presented and properly finished.

  • All works of art must reflect the theme of the show and be the work that was submitted to the jury.
  • All works of art must be original, done by the artist, and ready to properly present. All 2-D art should be framed with wire hangers.
  • Each artist can submit up to 3 pieces of art, not to exceed 4 ft. x 4 ft.
  • It is recommended that the artist be present at art receptions.
  • All work must be for sale. All sales are handled by the MAAG Gift Shop, and the commission on work sold during the event is 35%.
  • MAAG does have insurance on exhibited works, which covers the costs of the materials only. All work is insured only for the duration of the show. Any pieces not picked up after the due dates are not insured.

  • MAAG’s Submission Form (download here)
  • Up to 3 JPG images (300 dpi) of your work. Be advised that submitted images may be used by MAAG for advertising and marketing if the work is accepted.
  • Entry Fee: $20 for the 1st piece, $10 (per piece) for the 2nd & 3rd pieces, which can be sent via PayPal, snail mail or hand delivered.
  • Artist Statement/Bio describing the work submitted and a paragraph about the artist.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: Thursday, August 8, 11:59 PM
  • Notice of Acceptance sent on or near Friday, August 16
  • Artwork Delivery Dates: August 30-31, September 1 (Fri-Sat: noon-6 PM, Sun: noon-5 PM)
  • Exhibition Dates: Friday, September 6 – Sunday, September 15, 2024
  • Opening Reception: Friday, September 6, 5-7 PM
  • Artist Pick-Up: Wednesday-Friday, September 18-20, noon-6 PM

MAAG assumes no liability for any damage that may occur during the exhibit and is not responsible for any artwork left past the pickup date.
