Transformed Imagery – The Art of Collage

September 6-15, 2024

Collage offers huge possibilities for creative expression. Utilizing paper, photographs, fabric, metal, plastic, wood, and more, artists take apart and recompose these elements into totally new works of art – imagery that’s been transformed.

You must take time to scrutinize each creation to fully appreciate the multi-elemental art of collage.

Opening Reception: Friday, September 6, 5-7 PM

Participating Artists:

  • Margo Ackerman
  • George Dixon
  • Dominique Echevarria
  • Amy Gialuco
  • Patricia Smith

The Collage Collective meets every Friday, 6:30 – 8 PM.

MAAG also presents the Collage Art of Stephen Robert LaCheen (1934-2024).

Steve LaCheen was a Philadelphia lawyer specializing in criminal defense. He tried over 500 cases and authored over 100 law-related articles and short stories.

He served on the Mt Airy Art Garage Board right up to his passing earlier this year. He always provided a strong presence at our meetings, offering insightful ideas and suggestions to improve MAAG’s programs and role in the community.

Steve was also an amazing artist, creating collage art that showed people a different side of the man – the artist. “Spending so much of my time talking and writing,” he said, “I prefer to let my ‘collage ensembles’ speak for themselves.”

Steve LaCheen is greatly missed, and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
