Salvatore Mundi
“Salvatore Mundi” Charles Brenna - Based on the da vinci painting i was stumped about the significance of the orb and what it meant to me. The virus answered the question.

Full Moon Beckoning
“Full Moon Beckoning” Lee Muslin - In this season of supermoons, I was inspired to create an uncharacteristic series of black and white paintings with a moon theme. Guided by intuition, my art is about expression and movement. Abstraction allows me to respond to my internal world of feeling. I am drawn to the freedom and the challenges inherent in painting that is not based in reality but in imagination. It is an improvisational process of experimentation and discovery that captures the unconscious to bring forth an emotional response. Full Moon Beckoning is acrylic on panel and measures 12” x 12.”

The Superhero Takes on COVID-19
“The Superhero Takes on COVID-19” Larry West - A super-heroic EMS worker takes on their deadliest foe: COVID-19!

Under the weather but still smiling
“Under the weather but still smiling” Susan Davis - Cloistered, even cocooned, often feeling marooned in my house and garden, I have been cheered by taking a closer look at the phenomenal beauty just outside my door.

Lockdown Sketches
"Lockdown Sketches" Evvy Edinburg - The U.K. urban sketchers proposed a 30 challenge to sketch daily at home. This prompt is “doing chores.” Truth be told, it was actually my husband Ron raking the garden; I was in a “supervisory” capacity. And if you are wondering, the object next to the rake is an old rusty wine press.

A Study, Dr. Teresa Tyson
"A Study, Dr. Teresa Tyson" Theresa BrownGold - “A Study, Dr. Teresa Tyson” is a small portrait (24” x 20”) that precedes a much larger painting describing the role healthcare clinics play in delivering medical services to underserved populations. The painting is from Art As Social Inquiry’s painting series, “Healthcare in the United States.” artassocialinquiry.org

Things We Can’t See
“Things We Can’t See” Ruth Joray This year I worked with a bright third grade boy who has a considerable reading disability and also has a creative mind. His goal is to become a scientist and to own a microscope to look at invisible things. I brought him a book about microorganisms that live in ponds. He can’t read it, but he learned everything I read to him. I made him diagrams so he could learn the organisms’ body parts. His interest re-ignited my own in microorganisms. Micro-photographic images of human cells, one-celled organisms, rare sea creatures and other elusive life forms inspire these painting designs. No longer able to meet with my student, I’m painting about the microorganisms over which we bonded. The paintings are on silk panels, with specific silk dyes. Movements, patterns, rhythms and colors of the creatures inspire the designs.

Morning Walk
"Morning Walk" 24” x 30” acrylic on canvas. Daisy Juarez -I’ve been blessed to spend this difficult time in a Florida beach cottage. This painting is from a fond memory of morning walks on the beach before it was closed during the lockdown. One particular sunrise stands out. Along with the usual quantity of seashells and water fowl, the western sky over the Gulf of Mexico was filled with dramatic and colorful clouds lit up by the eastern sun; and the water reflected its own glory in ribbons of blues, greens and purples. In this painting, I wanted to capture that memory; the interplay of sky, sea, sand, birds, shells.

BLOOMS in the TIME of CORONAVIRUS
"BLOOMS in the TIME of CORONAVIRUS" Kathy Robinson -This painting was inspired by early morning walks in my Mt Airy neighborhood during isolation feeling inspired by the blooming gardens.

Untitled
"Untitled" Melvin A. Chappell -It's Memorial Day weekend at Penn's Landing. Where are the crowds, the music, the food and Cotton Candy? A solo individual stands where there would have been hundreds.

Untitled
"Untitled" Karyn Raman -Using repurposed wood, clay, and acrylic paint I wanted to focus on our creativity and the ideas that result from times of hardship. The removable vase allows a vine or herb to grow from the top of the head.

EVERY DAY ANGEL
"EVERY DAY ANGEL" Ellen Benson - I have been making brooches out of tuna can lids, broken earrings, bottlecaps, scrabble tiles, and other found objects and ephemera. The series is called EVERY DAY HEROES The one called EVERY DAY ANGEL I gave to my mail carrier with a gift card to WAWA! The others are for the trash and recyclable collectors, employees at the food co-op and CVS, and any others I encounter who are helping us by being “out there” serving during the pandemic.

Prince Charming
"Prince Charming" Hope Glover - I was inspired to create this painting by a black and white photo taken during the Harlem Renaissance in 1920. Prince Charming pays homage to its 100th year anniversary. The 1920's was a time of great social upheaval and the end of another pandemic, but also a time when creativity flourished. We survived to tell the story and so we shall today!

Untitled
"Untitled" Amanda Nichols Attached is a recycled windowpane painted with acrylic—this piece is really about creating a kind of spontaneous visual language for myself to express feelings of isolation and stress in one of the most uncertain and unstable periods ever. A goal of mine as an artist and educator is to empower people to hold space for their pains and anxieties through art-making, especially in times heavy with the pandemics of COVID-19 and systemic racism.

Masked Nude #3
"Masked Nude #3" Jaymes Fedor "This piece, "Masked Nude #3" is a sign of the times. With masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and distance-- we still create."

Coronacoleus
"Coronacoleus" Julie Kring “This time of pandemic seclusion has come with many mixed opportunities. Having so many activities canceled, I picked up my art box filled with half completed works from over the years. This coleus image started as a Lino cut, blue ink on red paper. It never truly took on which character, so one evening my gouache paints and metallic markers found their way to bring it alive. Without friends around physically, my artworks from past years have become my companions. Creating them anew Has been a gift of this time.”

Philly Sunrise
