Sol was an active member of the Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG), a founding board member and the artist for whom the MAAG Gallery is named.

He was a landscape photographer who traveled widely to capture the beauty of light on the land. He used a digital camera and Photoshop as his darkroom to produce images of landscapes and cityscapes.
