As a book artist and printmaker, I enjoy combining structure, composition, and narrative. My focus is in letterpress printing and handmade books. Additional work can be viewed at www.darkroompress.com.
Why, Hands? is a letterpress printed artists’ book that was conceived, written, and printed by graduate students in the Book Arts and Printmaking program at the University of the Arts, under my direction. The nonsensical story reflects the students’ responses to antique magnesium cut illustrations, and each other. As beginning letterpress students, through this collaboration they learned pressure printing, setting and printing from metal and wood type, and safe operation of the Vandercook press.
