The Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG) invites all artists to submit their art for the exhibit, Black Art Matters,” happening June 5 – July 22, 2022, in the Solomon Levy Gallery at MAAG, 7054 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19119.

MAAG constantly strives to provide a venue that supports our diverse membership. This extends from race and identity to all the forms of art our members create. For our summer gallery show MAAG is announcing the Black Art Matters exhibit, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and the significance Juneteenth plays in our collective histories. This is a gallery exhibit to celebrate the Black experience: positive or painful, the struggles and triumphs, beautiful or brutally heart-wrenching.

We encourage artists to submit up to two (2) pieces of work to be on display and for sale in this upcoming exhibit. All mediums are welcome for consideration.

Submissions:

To apply, send images.maag@gmail.com the following (All items can be sent via snail mail as well):

  • MAAG’s Submission Form
  • $20 Fee per entry, $25 for Non-MAAG Members, which can be sent via PayPal.
  • Up to 2 JPG images (300 dpi) of your work. Be advised that submitted images may be used by MAAG for advertising and marketing if the work is accepted.
  • Artist Bio/Statement describing the work submitted and a paragraph about the artist.

All emails should have the subject line: “BAM! Black Art Matters Submission – [Artists Name]”.

Due Dates:

  • Application Deadline: Thursday, May 12, 2022, 11:59 PM  
  • Final Notification of Acceptance: Friday, May 20, 2022
  • Delivery Dates: May 26 – 29, 2022 at Mt. Airy Art Garage, 7054 Germantown Ave.
  • Artist Pick-Up: July 23 – 24, 2022 at Mt. Airy Art Garage, 7054 Germantown Ave.

MAAG assumes no liability for any damage that may occur during the exhibit and is not responsible for any artwork left past the pickup date.

Black Art Matters – 2021 Summer Exhibit

The Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG) invites you to our latest exhibit, Black Art Matters, a summer art show honoring the Black Lives Matter movement and the significance Juneteenth plays in our collective histories. This is a gallery exhibit celebrating the Black experience: positive or painful, the struggles and triumphs, beautiful or brutally heart-wrenching.

The Black Art Matters Opening Reception will be on June 19th, 2-5 PM. We will be serving light refreshments and hosting live music with the Passage Jazz Trio. MAAG continues to follow safety practices and requests that our guests wear masks.
