“Field Theory,” acrylic on canvas

Renate Woessner sees herself as an Outsider Artist whose childhood passion for painting and drawing was “rebirthed’ at a painting workshop at Springboard Studio (Mt. Airy Meditation Center) five years ago. Since then, she has been painting mostly in acrylic and has created mixed media pieces that are more about the process and joy of painting and less about the product.

The painting, “Field Theory,” was created during a stay at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico where Gerogia O’Keefe lived when she first went to New Mexico. The abstract painting captures different qualities of light and dark within a minimalist palette.
