Guided by intuition, a fusion of gesture and geometry flows out onto the canvas in my abstract paintings. Although I begin my work with a basic composition and color scheme, I yield to what is happening in the painting as it develops. A back-and-forth between spontaneity and intention characterizes my approach.A fluid, visual movement is created as I glaze, draw and juxtapose transparent against opaque. The many layers of paint over line and texture leave intriguing traces of what came before. By focusing on process and informed elaboration, each painting unfolds and evolves in its own way.
